Fashion Don'ts That Make Me Crazy
kim | 11 January, 2006 21:40
The Manolo asks, what are the fashion "don'ts" that make me crazy? I will answer this slightly sideways, because I am slightly sideways. Let's say that the beauty industry says don't be without these items, it is boolsheet:
You probably don't need foundation. What a waste for so many women! Just use the right concealer under your eyes and around your nose. Blend well, voila!
Stop curling? your eyelashes if they are just going to look like check marks.
Stop putting eyeliner under your lashes-especially liquid liner!-and nothing on your top lashes. Just don't wear it, for cripe's sake.
Stop spending so much on skincare and get more sleep, eat better and exercize more. Your skin will improve.
Why the F are you wearing bronzer all over your face and your neck and arms are all white? Huh? Whitey?
You are not Beyonce, Gwyneth or J.Lo. It's okay to be you, you're pretty. Just love yourself and read a good book already.
I stopped using foundation a few years ago, after I started eating more Fruits and Veggies BTW. But should I use powder on my face? If so, what type, sheer or one with more coverage?
I battled not-so-great skin throughout high school, and no matter what skin care regiment I tried it just WOULD NOT GO AWAY.
Well now I'm 23. I've been out of school for 5 years. About 11 weeks ago I totally cut soda out of my diet, started walking 3 times a week, and changed my sleep schedule.
Guess what? Nary a zit. Period.
Love your blog!
Thanks,
Jo
I almost never use foundation. I always worried that I didn't blend it good enough so I quit and I feel much better. Good to hear that it's no must. :)
Sleep, exercise, read! Love yourself...
WHO KNEW!
I know, I know these things make a huge difference, but if you are like me and had severe and scarring acne until you were twenty-five you wear foundation until you get dermabrasion or laser surgery. I don't always like it, but the breezy response of drink more water sometimes just makes people spend years blaming themselves and resistng Accutane when you should have done it when you were 17 and would have missed years of discomfort.
Rachel is right if you have bad skin then wear your foundadtion! theres not a problem with that. Most of the time your arms are also way more tan than your face and neck so its okay to wear a little bronzer if you dont over do it. Also, if the acne treatment is working then im buying! There is this skin care line called arbonne and it is amazing! if u have skin problems then i suggest this!
